Girl Crush : Jess Harrison - Counterpoise Wellness

We absolutely love speaking to and hearing from the amazing women in our community, our friends and partners, and today we're excited to introduce the inspiring Jess Harrison!

Jess is the co-founder and director of theraputics and the LGC mental health partner, Counterpoise Wellness.

What is Counterpoise Wellness?

We are a family‑run company offering online therapy designed for you. Our service is affordable and accessible, so whatever you may be looking for: support during a crisis, help with mood or decision‑making, trauma work, or general emotional support we are here.
Our team of therapists are highly qualified, compassionate, and grounded in evidence‑based practice. We also run retreats, events, and workshops that are fun, connecting, and thoughtfully designed with a strong therapeutic thread running through everything we do. We believe therapy should feel supportive, human, and tailored to your life and that’s what we offer.

What inspired you to start Counterpoise Wellness?

Family events meant we needed therapy fast. The NHS were absolutely but we needed support quickly and waiting wasn't an option for us. We decided when we had come through this crisis we would do what we could to bridge this gap. Asa therapist myself, I also wanted to create safe therapeutic spaces where people could begin to explore their life events or moods in a way that could prevent the need for therapy.

What is your favourite part of your job?

So many favorite aspects: firstly when a client says " I'm ready to end" I know the therapy journey has done its job. Also seeing communities at retreats and events  show up for themselves and take something away!

What are you most looking forward to with our September Retreat?

Seeing the full arc....nervous excitement evolve into discovery, connection and the warm nurturing feeling people leave with.

If someone was on the fence about joining for the September Retreat, what advice would you give?

Do It! trust yourself as you really deserve it! Otherwise it will always be a "What if". Everyone feels the same so you are not alone and I can assure you, you will leave with something you may not even be able to imagine.

What’s your go to routine after a busy day? Firstly, I close the door on my office. The working busyness is done! Walk with the dog, cup of tea in a favourite mug. ( i have several!)

What is your favourite practical advice as a therapist for someone struggling at the moment?

Reach out or get out. Make some kind of connection and be as honest as you can, to a friend or a family member. Or just get outside so you are not alone with your thoughts and mood. Connecting with others and the outside world gives the mind a chance to be distracted or calmed.

What’s one thing you think more women deserve to hear?

You are truly awesome! Stand in your power

What’s the thing you love the most about being part of retreats?

Meeting the most incredible diverse mix of people. Everyone of them.

If there was one thing you hope that someone take away from Counterpoise, what would that be?

We truly believe in what we do as its evidence based and every aspect is designed with the care we would apply to our best friends and family.
