In November we celebrated 6 years of the Lonely Girls Club with a fabulous party in Shoreditch filled with cake, prosecco, karaoke, laughter, dancing and lots of wonderful new people 💖
Thank you to everyone who joined us it was amazing to have both new and old faces with us as we celebrated 6 years of connecting, making friends and making life less lonely.
It really has been the wildest 6 years! On a whim one very dark and rainy November night, our founder, Holly, set up a Facebook group in the hopes of making a couple of friends due to being so fed up of feeling so lonely, anxious and isolated in London. What she thought was just a Holly problem, turned out to be something that so many other wonderful women could identify with too and little did I know what that group would become.
Now 6 years later the Lonely Girls Club is a national organisation with 4 branches around the UK and over 125k amazing community members! What was started out of her own personal experiences with loneliness, isolation, bullying and anxiety, has turned into the most beautiful mission and community.
Hearing the stories of the friendships our community members have made, the connections formed, adventures had, the people you’ve met and memories created has been beyond anything she could ever have imagined. Your love, laughter, kindness, wisdom, bravery for walking the doors of our weekly events alone and support of the community, but more importantly each other is utterly spectacular and being privy to the ways in which you wonderful women can love and champion each other has been nothing short of breath taking. It’s been a little bit insane to say the least.
When we break it down, the true mission of LGC is to let women know something that 6 years ago Holly didn’t know, which is that you are not alone. So as she said in her speech at the event, whatever you’re going through, however you’re feeling about the state of the world or the things going on in your life, you aren’t alone! And as a not-so lonely girl, you’re in a community of hundreds of thousands of women who will love, support and champion you in whatever ways that you may need.
