It is a truth universally acknowledged that boys will be boys and girls have to grow up...
This August, we’re teaming up with author and speaker Jess Bacon for an extra special author event on August 27th at Hachette's offices in Victoria Embankment.
We’ll be discussing and hearing all about Jess’ debut book, I’m Just A Girl. An evening of sisterhood, laugher, listening, sharing and learning how we can all connect with our inner girl.

Jess is an author, journalist and creator based in Cambridgeshire, who covers film, TV and pop culture, and the representation of women on-screen. She has written for the likes of Stylist, Glamour, The Guardian, Radio Times, Rolling Stone, GQ, Elle and Dazed, as well as interviewed numerous actors, directors and creatives.

In her debut book, I’m Just A Girl journalist Jess introduces us to the 'second girlhood', the extended adolescence that adult women have crafted for themselves as a means to reconnect with the part of themselves they left behind: the girl.
Reconnecting with our inner girl is an empowering act of rebellion, allowing us to reclaim what was once taken from us. Jess shows us how our second girlhood offers a return to creativity and play that can ultimately improve our relationships, our mental wellbeing and establish a renewed sense of self. For far too long we have been presented with a false choice between womanhood and girlhood, this book is a celebration of a new way of being where we can fully embrace both.

Whether you’ve read the book cover to cover, read half, a couple of chapters, or want to read it in the future, everyone is welcome at this special author evening where we’ll be meeting with other like minded girlies who love books and conversations just as much as us!
Lonely Girls Club founder, Holly, will be interviewing Jess all about I'm Just A Girl, as well as having  plenty of time for a community Q&A where you can ask Jess all your questions about the book! Plus you’ll also be able to get your books signed too.
