London Lonely Girls October Book Club
London Lonely Girls October Book Club
Calling our London book girlies, for our October book club we’ve got an extra special treat for you, as we’re working with the team at Transworld publishers! Our pick for the month is Artificial Wisdom by Thomas R. Weaver, a breathless murder mystery technothriller set in 2050. In the teeth of a climate catastrophe, the world is left with a drastic solution: one global leader to steer it through the coming apocalypse. The final two candidates are ex-US President Lockwood, and Solomon, the world’s first political artificial intelligence. As whispers of a global conspiracy emerge, investigative journalist Marcus Tully find himself at the centre of it – and then Solomon’s creator turns up murdered. Overnight, one investigation becomes two, and it’s not just the result of the election that’s at stake but the future of the species. Suddenly humanity must make an impossible choice – between salvation, or freedom.
Book Club this month will be on Thursday 30th October, and we’ll be hosting at the Penguin Head Offices in Battersea. We’ll have the author Tom in attendance, and he will be being interviewed by LGC founder, Holly, before turning the mic over to you guys to ask your questions all about the book! This is a juicy book, and we’re excited to grill Tom on the story, characters, world, ending and everything in between! Plus we’ll be asking you to decide what you would do in the same position and cast your vote for one of the candidates, announcing the winner before the end of the evening.
At the in person event, you’ll be able to meet others who love books too, and time to discuss the book, your thoughts, feelings and experiences! We’ll have our Lonely Girls Book Club conversation cards to help drive the conversations without being too boring or stuffy whilst also enjoying some snacks, drinks and chats! Didn’t finish the book, or really didn’t like it, please do still come along! All thoughts, opinions and feelings are welcome, plus if you’ve already read the book in the past but would still like to hang out with other book-ish girlies and share your thoughts from when you read it, we’d so love to see you there.
Also, for our ebook & Kindle girlies, from October 1st, Artificial Wisdom is going to part of the Amazon Kindle Monthly Deal, where it’ll be 99p for the month! A great steal for those digital readers, or who would just like to get a good deal and save some money.
