Theatre Community Trip : Mermaids Have No Tears
Theatre Community Trip : Mermaids Have No Tears
This one is for the theatre girlies! Join us on Wednesday 14th May as we head to Barons Court Theatre to see iconic new play Mermaids Have No Tears!
Inspired by the original fairytale and Hans Christian Anderson’s real queer love triangle, this coming-of-age tail, set at the iconic Coney Island Mermaid Parade, dives into themes of selflessness vs shellfishness in America today. As the 2025 political administration makes tensions and temperatures rise, should we indulge escapism or violence, or do mermaids hold the key to harmony?
We’ll have a private space pre-show for you to mix, mingle and meet other theatre loving community members, plus of course grab a drink or some after work food before the play starts.
And, exclusively for Lonely Girls Club community members, after the play has finished we’ll be hosting an exclusive panel interview with the writer of the play Ellis, director Julia and one of the stars Jack! Where you’ll be able to learn more about the play, why it was written, get some behind the scenes gossip and more from the team!

She explores vulnerability and connection in our postmodern dystopia, through shamelessly Gen Z, irreverent yet intimate, coming-of-age satires that become dramedies, centering quirky cults and queer love.
Julia Sopher - Director - Julia (She/her) is a London educated, American born theater and film director. Her intelligent and engaging direction has tantalised audiences all over the UK and beyond.
Jack Flammiger- Actor- Jack (he/him) is a British actor who is musically and comically trained. He has been commended for his comedic timing and heartwarming, sensitive delivery.
